So today is the first full day home from the hospital. It became apparent to me that we needed to make her first few days home the same as the hospital. I saw her do so much on Sunday and then again on Monday morning. So I kinda got forceful and told Ashley I was going to have to be the bad guy.
I told her she has to follow my instructions in the same way she followed what the Dr's said. She has to get her sleep. So no getting up in the morning and pushing herself. Looks like breakfast in bed everyday for the next week. She has to limit her time up on her feet to 5 or 6 productive walks. No menial tasks or unnecessary physical exertions around the house. She also has to get a nap everyday, no if's and's or but's about it.
She is getting stronger everyday but I want to make sure she doesn't suffer an undo setback.
Having said this, I want her to see her friends and loved ones as much as possible. So just like at Gateway, here at Harris Hospital we are going to have visiting hours for the rest of this week.
Please feel free to text or call whenever. If she is sleeping I have her phone but will let her read and respond to them when she wakes up. If you would like to come by, which we would love to have you, please stay between 10am and Noon, or from 4 to 7. Most likely she will be in bed, which just means I have to keep the bedroom cleaner than normal. Here comes the big one...... Please, Please, NO CHILDREN. We can't have her get an infection or illness while she is in the recovery phase.
I will have hand sanitizer here in her room for anyone who comes by. We love, love all the thoughts and prayers that have helped us get through these past few scary days. The outpouring of love and support has really carried us.
If there are any questions you can always call me anytime. Dr Harris (self appointed and self promoted!) is avail 24/7.
GO TEAM ASHLEY !!!!!
