Ringing out

I pass this bell every day as I leave the hospital after radiation. 6 LONG weeks of every single day going to the hospital for treatment. Countless hours covered by dozens of babysitters watching my 4 children during their summer break. I can't read the inscription without getting a bit teary eyed. I thought I would ring it after I received my last chemo infusion, after surgery was over, since I still have a long way to go. But my radiation techs said oh no, I get to ring it when I am done with radiation. It is slightly anti-climatic since I still have a long way to go, but I am so grateful to be done with radiation!

My dilemma was who should I invite? I didn't want to bug anyone or inconvenience anyone. I rang out at 10 a.m. on a Friday, right smack dab in the middle of a work day. I decided to just invite family that I knew could make it. It was also really important to me that my kids be there. They each had a turn ringing the bell and then I had my turn.

So thankful for my awesome family and everyone who has been so supportive throughout this awful process!!

My mom brought me balloons! Haha, that hospital waiting room has never been so noisy!! All the kids wanted a balloon :)

One tunnel down! 2 more to go! Surgery then 5 rounds of chemo. I can do this!!

  1. " Ring my beeeeeeeeeeeeell " Haha, have you ever heard that song ? It's like a good ol' 70's song or something. Perfect for this occasion, so I thought I'd sing it for ya ; ) Congratulations ! Such a special moment for all of you. I know you have a ways to go until you can ring that bell for the final time, but you've made it through some seriously tough stuff. You deserved to ring that bell. You're amazing !
