Cancer PARTY!

So on June 4th, the day after we got the biopsy results back and I found out that I for sure had cancer, my sweet friend Jeni texted me. "Saturday night we are having a get together for you. My house 7 p.m. A few of us just want you to know how much we adore and love you! My daughter will come babysit for free. But plan on it!"

Well really, who can resist that?

I asked if we could make it co-ed so I wouldn't have to leave my husband all by his lonesome at home. Jeni said yes and my butt cancer party was born!

A day later I heard from her again: "Ok, first I am forewarning you, your fun party Saturday night has grown lots!"

Haha, so then the location got changed and the word spread and by the time we got to Saturday, it was a full blown shin-dig. I didn't do any of the inviting so every person that walked in was a surprise!

So to be honest with you, I was a little bit nervous right before the party. I mean, seriously, who has a cancer party? Were people going to cry and tell me all the people they knew who had died from cancer? Was it going to be a totally sad, somber night? I have so many emotions all jumbled up and I was nervous that if someone else cried or said something that hit a nerve, I didn't want to make this huge scene and have a breakdown in front of all these people. I haven't had a breakdown yet and I was nervous it would just explode out of me and ruin the night.

Also, I feel so bad for my friends! What on earth do you say to someone who has just found out they had cancer? Those who are honest with me tell me they are nervous they are going to say the wrong thing or something. Ahh, I hate it that they feel awkward around me. It's just a bummer. Haha, no pun intended!

With some trepidation, I walked into my cancer party and had the time of my life!! SO many friends came to wish me well and support me and cheer me on. If they felt awkward, they sure didn't show it and I didn't see a single tear all night long! Jeni decorated with purple everything, the color I had wished my ribbon would be, and the funniest, most fantastic part of the night was the cake ...

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Ashley L and Elisha, along with her sister in law Kursty, made me a butt cake!! Oh my gosh, I was dying with laughter!!! I am still dying with laughter, it is just so perfect!!

Seriously, this night will carry me for weeks.

Oh, and I almost forgot - I got presents!!! What in the world do you give someone that has cancer?! Well my friends did an awesome job and I have some amazing things to get me through this awful ordeal. The poster is probably my favorite part - I already hung it up in my room where I can see it from my bed and I know it will be a source of love and laughter that I can look to when I'm not feeling super fantastic.

Oh and if you didn't make it to this party, no worries! We are having the biggest party ever when I am cancer free!! I already have started making plans and anyone and everyone I know is invited to that party! We are going to dance our butts off when my butt is cancer free!!
