Duck Creek

I forgot to tell you all that I was going out of town. Sorry friends. I love it that whenever I go a day or two without posting, I start getting texts and messages from concerned friends who are worried about me. You are all just fantastic. I meant to say something like "I won't be posting again until Monday" but then I was worried that maybe a burglar would realize I was going out of town and would break into my house. Seriously, how awful would that be? To have your house broken into because someone read on YOUR CANCER BLOG that you were going out of town?! Haha, that would be pretty awful. Pretty awful for the burglar too, he would be pretty disappointed by the complete lack of anything worth stealing in our house! Everything that is worth anything was with me :

Look at this cute family of mine! I am not really posting much about our family on this blog but I wanted to include this little trip because it was fun! I think you all need a little bit of happy to lighten up all the cancer talk! We headed up to Utah for a pre-diagnosis planned trip to southern Utah with Matt's family. We went to Duck Creek, a little place between Ceder City and Panguitch.

We had planned to be there Friday - Tuesday. Unfortunately, I had to be back for treatment on Monday so we had to cut our trip short. Thankfully, Matt's parents agreed to keep our kids so they could enjoy their time with their cousins. We headed up Friday after my radiation treatment and drove home Sunday.

I was feeling pretty nauseous on Friday. That has been the main side effect during this first week of treatment. The best way to describe it is morning sickness that lasts all day and night. Food is gross, I'm sensitive to smells, I just feel kind of gross. Nothing unbearable, nothing horrible. Zofran is my new best friend.

Thankfully I get the weekends off - no treatment and no chemo. I felt great this weekend! I hope all my weekends go like that.

Saturday was a great day! We went fishing off of a pontoon boat on Panguitch Lake. In total, they caught probably about 25 fish that day!

I hope my kids have fond memories of this trip. I hope they don't associate it with cancer. I'm sure I'll have a ton more pics once the weekend is over. I'm so thankful for our family that is caring for our kids and making this week magical for them.

  1. So happy to see you were able to get away for a few days. You look amazing ! I kind of hoped you'd look a little less gorgeous . . but then I reminded myself that this is Ashley Harris and there's no " less gorgeous " with you ; ) Ooooh the all day sickness. Yuck. That's how I felt with all my pregnancies. Just sick all day long. I can relate and it blows. I actually have a full bottle of Zofran if you run out : ) So happy to see you and your cute family. I love Katie's bangs ! That's girlie needs to stop growing up so fast !
